The depth of the metal grooves (sash tracks) at the sides of the window and the weather stripping quality makes a big difference in how well storm windows can do this. Compare several types before deciding.

Hardware quality: The quality of locks and catches has a direct effect on durability and is a good indicator of overall construction quality.

Installation
