Let’s play Guess that body part!
Hey Eve,
Here’s a challenge for you: Em has an ear infection (from her recent ear piercing) and
we went online today (of course) to see what to do for it. We found lots of advise from
“Piercees” in our lovely blogosphere referring to the many piercings on various parts of
their bodies. The interesting thing was, I had no idea what parts of their body they
were referring to!! I thought you could do a contest and see how many of your readers
could match the body part with the name.
Here are the ones I came across — so crazy!!!
1. rook
2. snug
3. labret
4. monroe
5. septum
Alright so the prize is a $20 gift certificate to Claire’s for all your piercing needs! But let’s do this on the honor system. The only rule is you cannot look up any of these online or in a book (if any of you use books anymore.) You can ask people, or simply take a guess. NO PEEKING! The person with the most correct wins. If there is a tie I will draw names.
Contest will end Saturday PST at midnight.
Good Enough
1. rook -that little fold inside the top of your ear
2. snug -another ear piercing but i have no idea where
3. labret -just under lower lip
4. monroe -outer corner of upper lip
5. septum -nose
I promise I only have my ear lobes pierced! I just had some friends in college who had a lot of facial piercings! fun contest!
I know the Monroe because I considered it, it’s on the upper lip to one side.
I know the labret is on the lower lip. I’m not sure if it’s specifically middle or also on a side.
Septum- “the bull ring”, I think, in the nosey, I know.
And that’s all I got!
No idea… does “places where I NEVER want to have pierced” count?
Uhh, I was gonna guess something lippy for 3, something inside the nose for 5, and the fleshy bit where your arm meets your body, but is not in your armpit for 2, but it looks like you already have a winner. So funny. I’m really mystified by the whole piercing thing, though I have a brother with ears, navel, nibbles (that’s my children’s affectionate term), eyebrows, lower lip (labret?), tongue, and probably other stuff I don’t want to know about. He took out the one in his lip because he heard it caused your gums to recede.
Figured I better participate since it was my idea…
These are all guesses. I’m too scared to type in those words online after what I already say when I was looking up ears.
rook - above the eyes where you “look”
snug - could this be under your armpit?
labret - lips? which one/ones?
monroe - as in marilyn? I’m going for the neck
septum - near the bum somewhere where it’s septic

labret- upper ear
monroe- mustach area
septum- nose
rook - top of ear
snug - eye brow ???
labret - bottom lip - middle
monroe - top lip to the side (where Marilyn Monroe’s mole was)
septum - nose between nostrils
